BMW produced its first really exciting post-WW II sports car in the shape of the 635 Csi. It was succeeded by the 840 Ci in the 1990s.
 
Even with a weight of close to two tonnes, it still was able to reach a top speed of 250 km/h. It was a serious competitor for other high-performance cars of its era.
