Until the early 1980s, many Bentleys had been the "poor man's version" of the equivalent Roll-Royce models. Then, the make was given its own identity, with the emphasis on more exciting looking cars than the models of the big brother. 
 
The Turbo R was one exponent of this new policy. It was capable of performing almost 150mph. Not bad for a car of almost 2 and a half tonnes!
