Lotus established itself as builder of kit cars, while of course its performance in Formula 1 exposed the make to a wide public.
 
Bugatti was far removed from Lotus, but became connected after the man who revived the Bugatti make did the same thing with Lotus. The Elise was named after Romano Artioli's grand daughter, but continued Lotus's tradition of type names starting with an E.
 
Even now the car still turns heads when it passes by.
